HOME ADDITION
Space is the most desirable quality of any home. Whether you’re a growing family or living a single lifestyle, you need enough room to relax, play, entertain, and enjoy.
More Room to Breathe
When your home doesn’t offer enough space anymore, it can start to feel claustrophobic. And if that happens, your best option is always to add more. Compared to moving to an entirely new home, renovating your house to add an extra room or two has some tangible benefits, including:
• Less expense
• Substantial increase of future resale value
• No moving stress
• Full design control
By hiring an expert home addition contractor, you don’t need to leave the home you still love—you just let it grow with you.
What We Can Create for You
With most homes, there are an extensive array of options when it comes to adding rooms. At your initial consultation with our quality designers and craftsmen, we’ll go over your goals and ideas and work with you to extend your home just the way you want it.
WHERE CAN I ADD A ROOM?
There are three basic ways to add space to your house:
We can build out, meaning the new room or rooms are built at ground level; build up, on top of your existing rooms; or build a unit that’s detached from the main house entirely.
Each type of room addition has its advantages and disadvantages. Building out means less space for your yard, for example, while building up saves your footprint but causes more disruption during the construction phase.
When we start the planning phase, we’ll discuss each aspect in meticulous detail with you so can make an informed decision.
WHAT KINDS OF ROOMS CAN I ADD?
We can build nearly any type of room addition to your house—it all depends on your needs. Just a few of the home additions we have completed for our clients include:
Family Room
Sunroom
Game Room
Home Office
Children’s Playroom
Second Story Room
Media Room
Man Cave
Basement Room
Garage Apartment
12×12 and 20×20 Room Additions
Luxurious Master Suite
For detached additions, we can even build an entirely self-contained unit or garage.
ARE THERE ANY LIMITING FACTORS?
Any type of construction, especially when it’s working with an existing house, is subject to some limitations. For example, the strength and load-bearing qualities of your foundation and frame need to be sufficient for any vertical additions. Otherwise, they might need to be reinforced at additional expense.
Existing plumbing and wiring will also have to be factored into design, as will the size of your lot if you’re building outwards.
Disruptions to your home life will also have to be taken into consideration. Of course, our master builders at 89 Carpentry and Paint Inc. will do everything in our power to make this disruption as limited as possible. Even so, some home additions may require brief relocation.
Finally, all local regulations and permits must be adhered to and applied for. Our professional team knows the requirements, and from design to inspection, we’ll be able to help you every step of the way.
